(English below) De film La Grande Arche wordt nog een keer vertoond in De Zwarte Doos met Engelse ondertiteling. De bouw van ‘La Grande Arche’ in het Parijse zakencentrum La Défense is een van de meest ambitieuze architectuurprojecten van de 20e eeuw. De complexe realisatie van dit project, dat werd ontworpen door de onbekende Deense architect Johan Otto von Spreckelsen (1929-1987), inspireerde regisseur Stéphane Demoustier. In zijn film La Grande Arche toont hij dit fascinerende en waargebeurde verhaal met aandacht voor detail. De filmproductie was een van de hoofdattracties van het Architectuur Film Festival Rotterdam 2025 en draaide ook in Natlab. Op 22 april is deze bijzondere film ook te zien in de Zwarte Doos, met Engelse ondertiteling.
De film begint in 1982 als de Franse president François Mitterrand een wedstrijd uitschrijft voor een nieuw monument op La Défense. Het project is onderdeel van zijn megalomane Grands Projets: de acht monumenten die het 200-jarig bestaan van de Franse republiek vieren. Onverwacht wint de onbekende Deense architect Johan Otto von Spreckelsen. Samen met zijn vrouw en zakenpartner Liv gaat hij naar Parijs om het project te realiseren. Door een moeizame samenwerking met projectarchitect Paul Andreu komt zijn ‘kubus’, zoals hij het project liefdevol noemt, steeds verder in problemen… De film vertelt dit waargebeurde verhaal zonder al te veel melodrama.
